The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting was originally painted on canvas. A horizontal join through the center is faintly visible at present. The picture has been mounted onto a wooden panel and the cracking is noticeably raised in places. The picture has been under-cleaned in some areas and over-cleaned in others, but given the right attention, i.e. removal from the panel lining and properly cleaning and retouching the paint layer, the picture would respond nicely. The condition is uneven at present but there is room for improvement.
