Provenance

Anonymous sale in these Rooms, 29 March 1976, lot 61

Condition

Ivory ground. This miniature is in good condition, however, there are small areas of dusty dry mould on the face and parts of her hair. Further the gum arabic along the left hand margin has crazed and the lead white used of the chemise highlights has begun to oxidise. There is also a little surface dirt at the base. These small defects are barely visible to the naked eye. The hair in the reverse is in a mess and has obviously been tampered with.
