Description

Comprising a 14 karat gold cigarette case, Dreicer & Co., applied with black and cream enamel, the lid and thumbpiece decorated with rose-cut diamonds, completed by a black cord handle, signed Dreicer & Co., 3 by 1¾ inches, 1 diamond missing; an 18 karat gold compact of hexagonal shape, applied with black enamel, the hinged lid accented with a ring of  rose-cut diamonds, the interior with fitted mirror, joined by a black cord to a matching lipstick case handle, and a carved jade and simulated onyx cigarette holder; together with a simulated tortoiseshell comb and case, circa 1940, the comb decorated on the spine with 3 lapis baguettes set in an 18 karat gold ornament of stepped outline, French assay mark and maker's mark. With leather case for cigarette holder. 

Condition

The CIGARETTE CASE, weighs approximately 74 dwts., the enamel is chipped and scratched, one rose-cut diamond missing from thumbpiece. Signed Dreicer & Co on underside of interior cigarette clip. The COMPACT/LIPSTICK has some surface scratches to enamel from usual wear, the mirror inside compact is cracked. The COMB is stamped with a French assay mark for 18 karat gold and has a partial maker's mark; it has tested as plastic imitating tortoiseshell. CIGARETTE HOLDER shows sign of adhesive at the junction between the jade and simulated onyx.
