Description

  • Cartier, Paris
The cream dial with black Arabic numerals and blued steel hands within a rectangular case decorated with rose-cut diamonds and calibré-cut onyx, completed by a black grosgrain strap, dial signed Cartier, France, movement by European Watch & Clock Co.

Condition

The strap mentioned on the Cartier certificate (leather with gold pin buckle with entwined C's) is different from the present leather-backed grosgrain strap, stamped Cartier, Paris, but with unsigned buckle. Movement is by European Watch & Clock Co., numbered 20153. Case back is inscribed "Sydney from Sam and Lil" and "24 Aug. 1923" and is numbered 20153, 11703, 2639 and HSA 1094. Manual movement, currently running. Dial signed Cartier France. Diamonds are of decorative quality and onxy segments are intact. The grosgrain ribbon band is frayed at the corners, but the piece is in good condition otherwise. See Important Notice Regarding Condition of Watches on page 272 of the catalogue.
