Description
The rectangular case engraved in the 'Indien' style to the outside with storks, birds, a tiger leaping onto a gazelle to a foliate motif background, the thumb piece decorated with turquoise and a collet-set pear-shaped topaz , opening to reveal a mirror, with four compartments and a comb, possibly later, measurements approximately length 155mm, width 112mm, depth 23mm, signed CARTIER and indistinctly numbered, fitted case Cartier, Paris.

Condition
Case of base metal probably brass, with significant tarnish to exterior and deficiencies in enamel decoration. Interior fitted with gilded leather with wear and soiling with residue of old cosmetics, mirror with some moisture damage to edges, comb later replacement, overall weight approximately 565 grams. Fitted Cartier box, cloth cover with wear to corners and one edge of lid detached, four other corners split, some slight soiling to silk interior.
