Description
Of envelope design decorated with powder and royal blue enamel, millegrain-set with rose-cut diamonds, opening to reveal a mirror and two hinged make-up compartments, inscribed with the initials 'E.C.D. Christmas 1929', measuring approximately 80mm x 50mm x 8mm, signed Udall & Ballou.
Condition
Overall good condition, with some minor scratches and abrasions to enamel commensurate with age and wear, stamped 14k for 14 carat gold to interior and numbered 825, weight approximately 154 grams.

Catalogue Note
Founded in 1888 in New York, Udall & Ballou where a leading American silversmith and jewellers, with locations in Palm Beach, Florida, Rhode Island and Rue Lafayette Paris. By the 1920s they had become one of the most prominent jewellers of the period and by 1939 where exhibiting jewels in the new Art Deco style at the New York World's Fair. They finally closed during the 1940s as a result of the economic downturn of the Second World War.
