Description

The rectangular hinged case suspended from a black enamel and rose-cut diamond link chain, to a later circlet, the obverse surface of the case applied with a woven mesh of seed pearls within a border of black enamel and single-cut diamonds, the reverse composed of an onyx tablet the corners accented with rose-cut stones, opening to reveal a mirrored powder compartment, a concealed ivory writing tablet and pencil, measuring approximately 86mm x 58mm x 14mm, French assay and maker's marks, numbered.

Condition

Abrasions to black enamel near hinges, with small chips to enamel on three of the four corners and wear to black enamel bezel border surrounding pearl top. Diamonds bright and lively, with extensive wear and small chips to black enamel curb link chain, with later suspension loop. French assay marks for platinum stamped to inside of lid and numbered 55384, discolouration to mirror. Weight approximately 174 grams.
