GOLD, RUBY AND PEARL DEMI-PARURE, MID 19TH CENTURY

Description

Comprising; a pendant brooch with scroll engraved chain and a pair of ear pendants, of foliate chased design each accented with mixed-cut rubies and pearls, French assay marks, chain length approximately 400mm, brooch with detachable pendant and brooch pin, ear pendants with detachable drops.

Condition

Brooch/pendant necklace: Stamped with French assay marks to reverse of pin for 18 carat gold, one assay mark to front which has made an indentation which is then visible to the back. Rubies in demi-parure of various colours and shapes, foil backed so not possible to comment on saturation of colour in stones, typical inclusions visible with a 10x lens, several with scratches to surface and cavities. Chain with detachable extension approximately 45mm. Later safety catches to top of each clasp. Hook fitting on chain, drop on pendant and bail all with traces of lead solder to reverse. Pin a little bent. Earrings: Pearls varying in size and colour. Later screw back fittings. Scratches and small indentations to demi-parure consistent with age and wear. In overall good condition.
