Condition
Good condition overall. Restoration to the nose. Surface slightly weathered, with a few very fine hairline cracks to the chest and drapery, as can be seen on the photograph, with a few marble inclusions. Two fixing holes to the back of the bust.

Catalogue Note
Ce buste s'inspire probablement des oeuvres de Louis Lerambert (1610/20 - 1670), en particulier sa paire de bustes de Faune et Faunesse au Louvre (RF4617 et 4618), ou encore de sculptures de Jean Raon. L'artiste a pu trouver une source d'inspiration dans les marbres hellénistiques, ainsi que dans les dessins de Charles Le Brun (1619 - 1690) représentant des têtes de faune.
