Description

painted in puce camaïeu on either side with a scene of lovers seated or strolling in a garden, the similarly decorated cover and gilt-heightened scroll-molded wishbone handle mounted with a French silver-gilt hinge and thumbpiece, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, the mount with discharge mark for 1744-50. Minor wear to gilding.
