Description

  • The 'C Couronné poinçon', (Crowned C) was a tax mark struck on any alloy incorporating copper, produced or offered for re-sale between March 1745 and February 1749
  • height 10 in.; width 7 1/4 in.
  • 25 cm; 18.5 cm
with domed lid and pierced neck; decorated on two sides with lobed reserves of floral motifs in shades of blue heightened with gilt, flanked by ormolu lions' masks above ormolu bullrushes, a pair of porcelain elephant heads and scallop shells on a voluted ormolu base. One elephant head missing.
