Description

  • Joseph Coteau (1740-1812) was one of the pre-eminent enamellers of the period and he worked for the Sèvres factory from 1780-1784. 
  • height 18 in.; width 25 in.
  • 46 cm; 63.5 cm
the white enamelled dial signed Beffara a Paris and Coteau contained within a drum-shaped case surmounted by a pair of doves on cloud banks and flanked by patinated bronze putti, the shaped elliptical base mounted with foliate ormolu rinceaux incorporating griffons flanked by masks of Mercury, on ormolu toupie feet.
