Description

  • height 31 in.; width 45 1/4 in.; depth 24 in.
  • 79 cm; 115 cm; 61 cm
with a later veined marble top, raised on four leaf-carved cabriole legs joined by stretchers centering a bouquet; re-painted in multicolors on a blue ground.  Formerly all gilt.

Condition

In good overall condition; the console has an additional, later plinth base also painted blue (not illustrated). Console was originally gilded (traces visible beneath the paint); it was later painted and then, later again, oil gilded - this gilding was recently removed. Given these interventions to the surface, the overall condition is good and is entirely consistent with age and use. including but not limited to small losses to surface and minor losses to carving; signs of old repairs.
