A Fine Large Pair of Empire ormolu and patinated bronze nine-light candelabra circa 1810, attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire

Description

  • height 49 in.; width 11 1/2 in.
  • 125 cm; 29 cm
each with a pair of patinated bronze female figures supporting an ormolu vessel in the form of an oil lamp after the antique with three candle branches cast with beaded masks, palmettes and anthemion, surmounted by a slender tapered vase with flame finial with curved trumpet shaped candle branches cast with dolphin masks flanked and separated by bearded masks alternating with dancing maidens; raised on a rectangular ormolu-mounted patinated bronze pedestal fitted with garlands enclosing masks on leaf-cast paw feet.

Condition

In excellent overall condition. Two arms on one of the candelabra have been restored; each has a plugged hole on the base where it was drilled for wiring. Would benefit from a light expert cleaning.
