A pair of large Empire ormolu, patinated bronze and porphyry six-light candelabra circa 1805

Description

  • height 44 in.
  • 112 cm
each with a standing draped female figure flanked by an ormolu stylized cornucopia with patinated bronze lotus leaf nozzle issuing curved candle branches, centered by a patinated bronze stiff branch cast with anthemion and lotus leaves; raised on a circular ormolu-mounted porphyry pedestal on a leaf-cast plinth.

Condition

Minor marks and rubbing to the ormolu. Minor traces of oxidation to the ormolu. The patinated bronze surfaces in overall good condition with a minor possible restoration to the robes of one of the figures. The porphyry is in overall very good condition, and may possibly be a later replacement.
