Catalogue Note

This is a version of the popular model which was commissioned in 1787 and executed under the direction of Jean Hauré.  Delivered by Pierre-François Feuchère (1737-1823) in early 1788 for Marie-Antoinette's cabinet de toilette at St. Cloud.  Feuchère held the molds for this model which was frequently repeated in the 19th century.
