Description

  • length 4 1/2 in.
  • 11.5 cm
painted in the manner of Johann Gregorius Höroldt, with Chinoiserie scenes and indianische Blumen around the octagonal body between gilt borders, the cover with two Chinoiserie vignettes within geometric and flowerhead borders beneath a pagoda knop, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilder's mark 96. Minor chip and wear to gilding.

Condition

Please note: the illustrations of the boxes and covers for lots 11 and 12 are transposed both in the printed and online catalogues. Lot 11, the sugar box with the two figures seated across a table, crossed swords mark and gilder's numeral 96: The edge of the cover has a very minor patch of misfired gilding, visible in the catalogue illustration, and a tiny spot of wear to the gilding on one corner of the cover. Otherwise, both in good condition.
