Catalogue Note
A virtually identical table, unstamped, was in the collection of Victor Rothschild, sold, Sotheby & Co., April 19, 1937, lot 296; it differs from the present lot only in the treatment of the trellis parquetry. Two other examples, also unstamped, have been recorded: one with ormolu mounts on the legs was sold, Sotheby's, New York, November, 10, 2006, lot 32. The second, attributed to Pioniez, is illustrated, P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle, Paris, 2002, p. 702. As in the latter example, it is fitted with ormolu mounts to the upper part of the legs.
