Description
- height 7 1/4 in.
- 18.5 cm
painted on either side of the jug with a martial scene within an elaborate gilt scroll-edged quatrefoil panel surrounded by shadowed insects, in the manner of Johann Gottfried Klinger, and Holzschnittblumen, the similarly decorated cover and handle mounted with a French silver-gilt hinge and thumbpiece, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, gilder's mark J, the mount with discharge mark for 1744-50. Minor retouched rim chip.
