A good mahogany longcase regulator, William Cromey, Bristol

12-inch engraved silvered dial with outer minute ring enclosing seconds and hours dials, signed Cromey, Bristol, the five pillar movement with substantial stepped plates, dead beat escapement with jewelled pallets, high count train and maintaining power, enclosed by a glass dust cover, the mercury pendulum with roller suspension and fine beat adjustment on the crutch, oscillating against a silvered beat plaque, the solid mahogany case with well-figured veneer to the front, blind swan neck cresting above canted hood and trunk corners, glazed rectangular trunk door and panelled plinth

Dial has some scuffs and scratches. Movement looks as though i8t would run but may benefit from a clean. Case has old repair to left side of cresting, two small pieces of moulding detached but we have them, piece of veneer missing from lower edge of trunk door surround, horizontal rack to plinth panel, other old minor scuffs and cracks throughout. With pendulum (mercury stored in sealed plastic jars), brass-cased weight, winder with ivory knob and case key.
