8-inch painted dial with calendar aperture and signed G M Metcalfe, Londres, strike/silent dial in the arch, the five pillar two train fusee movement with verge escapement, trip repeat striking on a bell, the backplate with engraved border and signed within a cartouche as the dial, the case with bell top, brass carrying handle and pine cone finials, scale side frets and brass bracket feet, the seatboard stamped W R and numbered with the rear door frame 896

Dial in generally good condition with restored scratches between I and II. MOvement in good clean condition and looks as though it would run. Case in good clean condition with a few minor repairs to old veneer cracks. With a winder and case key.

George Marmaduke Metcalfe was apprenticed to Robert Underwood and was Free of the Clockmakers' Company in 1781. It is believed that he died in 1825.
