An unusual Austrian painted fruitwood and ebony veneered games table, Vienna first quarter 19th Century

with a moulded rectangular hinged top opening to reveal a later baize lined playing surface swivelling to reveal a recess, the frieze decorated with winged female masks, eagles and scrolling foliage, on square tapering legs

Old minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age. Some hairline splits in the veneer as visible from photograph which do not detract from the piece. Some very minor restorations to the veneer and very minor losses. There is a 3cm long section of the veneer missing on the right edge of the top which needs to be replaced. Very attractive detail to decoration. The recess appears to have a later oak lining. A very stylish piece in overall good conserved condition.
