- 91cm. high, 51cm. diameter; 2ft. 11¾in. 1ft. 8¼ in.: bowl: 44cm. diameter, 1ft. 5½ in.
with circular removable dish applied with a band of bucrania suspending laurel swags, each support surmounted by a female sphinx on lion monopodia applied with beaded masks joined by a scrolled stretcher on a concave-sided triform base
Condition
Colour slightly darker overall than in the catalogue illustration. Weathered. Evidence of previous fixing on the bowl section. Some warping to the base beneath the bowl. Decorative and in otherwise good condition.

This is based upon a bronze tripod from the Temple of Isis at Pompeii and is now in the Museo Nazionale, Naples.
An engraving by Piranesi of a bronze tripod upon which this model is based, was in the Museo Reale de Portici, and is illustrated by Ficacci, op. it., reproduced here in fig. 1.
