A pair of gilt-bronze and patinated bronze tazzae-candelabra, each signed F. Barbedienne in Retour d'Egypte style, second half 19th century

each with a female figure with Egyptian headdress and in drapery, surmounted by a stylised lotus leaf handle, standing on a circular tazza flanked on either side by a bobèche decorated with further stylised lotus leaf motifs, on a circular base

Some minor rubbing to bronze figures. Old very minor marks and scratches. Gilding rubbed on the top of the socle but this is hardly noticeable due to the overhang of the dish. The face on one of the standing figures is less well defined than the other. The pierced finial on the top is slightly bent on the aforementioned candelabra as it has a crack in the base of it but can be straightened and a pine cone on the top of the same one has lost some of its detail. In otherwise good condition. Unusual model.
