Description
each with a padded back with concave corners flanked on either side by a stylised leaf carved finial, above padded arms with spiral twist columnar supports, the seat-rails centered by a ribbon-tied motif, on fluted tapering legs, the tapestry upholstery depicting children within pastoral landscapes beneath a drapery cresting
Condition
More contrast in the colours of the tapestries which are most attractive and very charming. The tapestry covers are largely Louis XVI, there is however later repair to the cream ground of the centre of most of the seats and backs, to some areas more minor than others, and the eau-de-nil surround again on the seats and backs has been repaired. Cream and eau-de-nil repairs are in thicker wools, seen as different colours in the catalogue photograph. Minor repairs to other areas, for example flowers, on some. Tapestry to the padded arms of all, with repair, all stable. One with splits to front edge. Tapestry covers generally stable and usable.
Joints sound and sturdy. Some of the finials have possibly been replaced. There are some chips to the decoration, especially the feet which can easily be touched up. In overall good condition.
