A fine kingwood, tulipwood, stained sycamore and parquetry table à écrire stamped RVLC JME Louis XV/XVI/Transitional, circa 1770

with a rectangular gilt-bronze banded top with projecting corners above a frieze drawer inlaid with stylised Greek key motif and opening to reveal a leather lined writing flap, flanked by a removable compartment with steel receptacles for writing implements, ink pot and sander, the tambour door opening to reveal three drawers on cabriole legs joined by a gilt-bronze banded shelf, terminating in gilt-bronze scrolled feet and later gilt-bronze castors, the whole inlaid with cube parquetry

Colour less orange with more contrast and more natural and attractive than in the catalogue photograph. There have been some old very minor restorations to marquetry, which have been very well executed and are hardly noticeable. Very minor patches to veneer commensurate with age. Gilt-bronze mounts generally later. The gilt-bronze sabot appeared to be original with minor tarnishing and one with casting crack. In overall good conserved condition.
