A Continental painted and gilded tôle birdcage Late 19th Century

of octagonal form with a crown corona above an ogee-shaped top with a door in the side, the whole with beaded swags, the underside decorated with baskets of flowers, floral swags and stylised foliage on an ivory ground with a foliate cast finial;  minor losses to painted tôle

Gilding slightly darker than in the catalogue illustration. The gilding is rubbed in places as visible from catalogue photograph. The crown corona has minor damage as part of it is warped as visible in the catalogue photograph.There is a small section of beading on top missing but this is not too noticeable. A small section of beaded swag on the top is slightly loose and needs re-attaching. Charming detail to painted decoration underneath. In otherwise good condition.
