A gilt-bronze and bronze medallion late 19th century

of oval form, the frame with and egg-and-dart and beaded border enclosing a scene depicting two cherubs harvesting the corn, one wearing a hat



 

Colour of gilt-bronze less greenish and bronze slightly darker and more attractive than in the catalogue illustration.There are two screws at the top and one at the bottom and the one at the top supports a later handle on the reverse. There has been a break in the frame on the base which is now held in place by screws and there is also a section missing from the top of the frame as well on the border. Very good quality casting. Some minor rubbing to gilt-bronze, which is turning pink in places. Highly decorative. In otherwise good condition.
