Description
- crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue
- 27cm. high; 10¾in.
modelled by J.J. Kändler as a pear-shaped pierced vase resting on rockwork, ,moulded at the front with a rococo cartouche painted with a scene of gallant and companion in camaieu green, entwined with grape vines growing up from the base, with figure of a monkey climbing up one side, at the base a Harlequin holding up a beaker in his right hand together with a lady filling a basket with grapes, seated on a rocaille-moulded base enriched in gilding (the monkey's right thumb broken off, some restoration to goblet and flower basket)
Condition
The monkey's right hand restored with thumb missing, restoration to Harlequin's right hand and goblet, handle of basket and four areas of fruiting branch.
