  • each footstool 17cm. high, 30cm. wide, 31cm. deep; 6½in., 11¾in., 1ft. ¼in
each with a cartouche-shaped padded drop-in back above bowed padded drop-in seat within a moulded frame carved with rocaille and foliage, both bearing the stamp 'BARA', on cabriole legs with scroll feet, the backs incised with rocaille and foliage on a trellis-work ground; re-gilded one with the label of Marquis de Croix, minor section of carving on seat now missing ; together with a pair of carved giltwood footstools, in Louis XV style, 19th century, each with a serpentine padded top above a moulded frame, on squat cabriole legs, the whole carved with flower and leaves

Condition

Colour of gilding less greenish and more golden and attractive than in catalogue photograph. Joints are sound and sturdy. Old minor marks and chips to gilding as visible from photograph with some very minor wear. Some construction cracks at joints generally commensurate with age, which can easily be filled. Some old minor restorations to the side rails of the back. In overall good restored condition. The footstools have joints which are sound and sturdy. Gilding slightly darker overall and more attractive than in catalogue photograph. Minor construction cracks at joints, which can easily be filled. Minor hairline cracks and marks and chips and minor wear to gilding in places. In overall good condition.
