A large Italian green and polychrome painted tôle and porcelain mounted mirror, Venetian third quarter 18th century

the rectangular plate divided into six sections within a rocaille border, the inner frame with an arched cresting above a further rectangular frame flanked by two painted tôle and porcelain mounted candlearms with a gilt-bronze foliate nozzle, the frame carved with flowers, leaves and rocaille and painted with floral sprays

Colour slightly darker overall and much more attractive with contrast of colours, which is not apparent from the catalogue illustration. Nice detail to carving and painted decoration.There are some old very minor restorations to the carving, which has been very well executed and not too noticeable. There is a hairline crack at the base of the outer carved border on the right side, which can easily be filled. Some very minor retouching to decoration. Some very minor chips to porcelain flowers. The gilt-bronze is slightly dirty and together with the candlenozzles would benefit from a light clean according to taste. Two porcelain flowerheads are missing There are also some unexplained drill holes in the backplate of the candelabra which may well be associated. The blue painted triangular inset piece at the reverse of the backplate of the candelabra is a later addition. Some retouching to painted decoration on the candelabra section. In overall good conserved condition.
