A pair of Italian yellow and pink lacquered corner cupboards, Venetian second quarter 18th century

each of serpentine bombé form, with a later grey marble top, with a door opening to reveal a shelf, the whole carved and decorated with rocaille flowers and leaves, on three splayed legs

Colour far less yellow as the ground is ivory and not as it appears in the catalogue illustration. Very attractive detail to carved and painted decoration, with original craquelure. There are hairline construction cracks generally and other cracks commensurate with age some of which are visible from photograph, which can easily be filled. There are some minor losses to carving, e.g. the middle of the left side where there is a crack in the panel and also on the top right side of the wooden border on the top of one. The legs have been strengthened behind. The rear leg on each is a replacement. The other corner cupboard has suffered more in that there is a horizontal crack at the top of the left side which will need filling. Both marble tops have been restored and have old minor chips and scratches. One of the marble tops is missing its right corner and a small section of the wooden border beneath, which is visible from the photo. The base of one has been replaced. A very rare model in need of some minor attention.
