in the goût Turc ,each in the form of a seated Ottoman child figure in elaborate robes on a tassled cushion, the rectangular plinth with a stylised Vitruvian scroll above a concave section, on acanthus cast inward scrolled feet, the apron with three interlocking crescent moons, one with the inventory number in white 1539A, the other 1539, on the inside

Baron Alfonse Mayer von Rothschild (1877-1942). The inventory numbers 1539A and 1539 refer to his collection in Vienna where they were catalogued as `Zwei Vergolddete Bronzen Kaminbock mit Turkische Herren und Damen'
They were restituted in 1946 and sold by French and Co, New York to a private collector in the United States

Some very minor surface dirt, which can easily be cleaned off. There is evidence of a previous fixing on top of the turban. The implements that both are holding in their hand appear to have had a small section that has snapped off, but this does not detract from the overall look of the piece. Some minor rubbing. Good provenance. An attractive model in overall good condition.
