Catalogue Note

There is a similar chandelier hanging in the Chinese Pavilion at the Swedish Royal Palace of Drottingholm. It features the same fleur-de-lys shackle, beaded strands, flowerheads and gilt-bronze cast branches. See Martin Mortimer, The English Chandelier, Woodbridge, 2000, p. 49., pl. 6. Mortimer indicates that the chandelier illustrated in pl. 6 shares characteristics with a group of lights - one of which incorporates rock crystal and was sold Sotheby's Monaco, 18th June 1989, lot 168.
