Condition
Overall good restored condition; the tops with a later polished finish and with slight rippling and small age cracks; one with minor water damage and with small patches to the back left corner; the underside of the same with areas routed out to stabilize warpage; each with small age cracks and lifting to veneers of edge of tops; minor age cracks to frieze; each with later screws to undersides; overall with minor old marks, scratches, scuffs and bruises.

Catalogue Note
A 'Side Board' illustrated by George Hepplewhite, The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1794, 3rd ed., has a similar frieze to those of the present pair of tables, carved with circular flower heads and raised on fluted tapering square legs.
