Description

  • 40.6 cm
each modelled with either a satyr or triton representative of Bacchus or Neptune, seated upon the shoulder of the shield-shaped body of the ewer, his arms extending around its neck and grasping either the horns of a goat or the fins of a dolphin, above swags of either fruiting grapevine or waterweed, raised on a fluted stem and square base, impressed WEDGWOOD. Minor chips.

Condition

Water: Generally good condition. At present the ewer is somewhat loose on the base - the bolt on the underside has frozen and needs to be tightened. Wine: There is a minor 1/4-in. chip to an upper corner of the base and a 1/8-in. nick tot he upper edge of another corner. Otherwise, generally good condition.
