An indication of their original appearance is revealed by the surface beneath a missing mount to the bottom right rear corner. Partial flaking to left panel. Minor age cracks to the doors and back panel. The engraved mounts to the exterior of the cabinet have largely lost their gilded finish due to wear, in contrast to the mounts on the interior which retain their gilding. Catalogue Note

The present stand relates to a table sold Sotheby`s sale of the contents of Benacre Hall, Suffolk, 9, 10, 11 May 2000, lot 34 and also to a gilt-gesso table in the collection of the Dukes of Devonshire, Chatsworth House, Derbyshire which is tentatively attributed to James Moore. There are also affinities with both tables and the stand with their poetic Indian masks inspired by the designs of Jean Berain, to the celebrated suite of seat furniture at Houghton Hall, Norfolk attributed to Moore and Gumley and also the suite supplied to James Brydges, 1st Duke of Chandos, also attributed to James Moore, examples of which were sold Christie`s London, Houghton Sale, 8th December 1994, lot 135, and also Important English Furniture, 8th June 2006, lot 50.
