Description

  • 86cm. high, 96cm. wide, 58cm. deep; 2ft. 9 ¾ in., 3ft 1 ¾ in., 1ft. 10 ¾ in.
the top inlaid with polyfoil, scroll and heart-motif stringing with a holly banding to the rear, the top now with an applied mahogany moulding, the two short and three long graduated drawers inlaid with roundel and half roundel stringing, the sides with double holly bandings, on replaced  turned feet, handles and escutcheons later

Condition

Age crack running all the way across the top with old restorations including wood filler and patching in this region. The mahogany moulding to the top is a replacement and there is a inset thin strip of veneer running around the inner edge. The sides with minor lifting to the holly bandings on both sides with some replaced sections, minor patching and filler. Both the handles and escutcheons are of a later date. There has been some minor patching to drawer fronts.The astragal mouldings surrounding the drawers have been restored in various places and have characteristic cross-grain age cracks and some losses. The turned feet have been replaced. The base moulding with minor restorations and losses. The vertical bandings flanking the drawers also have minor restorations.
