Description
- 75cm. high, 662.5cm. long including nine spare leaf insertions, 151cm. deep; 2ft 5 ½ in, 21ft. 8 ¾ in., 4ft. 11 ½ in.
the rounded rectangular moulded top with coromandel bandings and telescopic action, the frieze ends each with an extension mechanism operated with a winding handle, the turned and fluted legs with ebonised mouldings and cabochon carved collars, on concealed castors, underframe and telescopic action in mahogany, the iron extension screw casings at each end with the trade label, bearing the Royal coat of arms and the inscription `MOORE BROS./ PATENTEES/ AND SOLE MANUFACTURERS OF THE DOUBLE & TREBLE ACTION TABLE EXPANDERS/ CABINET BRASS & IRON FITTINGS/ BIRMINGHAM LONDON'
Condition
Good overall restored condition. The piece has been refinished and the top has a shiny surface. There are chararcteristic undulations to the top consistent with age. Four leaves are of a slightly different timber suggesting that they might be associated. Restored breaks to two legs. Minor old marks and scratches consistent with use. An exceptionally large table of excellent quality.
