Non matching later handles to the real and dummy drawer of the Pembroke table. Minor stains to tops. General old marks and scratches. Good colour and patina. Attractive figuring to tops. Catalogue Note

John Sherrott, snr, is listed at 42-44 Radcliffe Highway, London as a cabinet-maker and upholsterer, 1776-1809. The unusual inlaid crossbanded border on both tables in the present lot,  is strikingly similar to that  on a Pembroke table with the label of John Sherrott, illustrated in Christopher Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, 1996, pl.833, p.419.
