Description

  • 284cm. high, 284cm. wide, 48cm. deep; 9ft. 4in., 1ft. 6in.
with a pierced carved cresting above adjustable shelves, the lower section also with adjustable shelves, on a plinth, plinth cut, included with this lot are two folios assembled by the current owner and documenting the history of the bookcase.   

Provenance

Sold Christie`s sale of the contents of The Manor House at Clifton Hampden, The Home Christopher Gibbs Esq., 25th and 26th September  2000, lot 144 where given a possible provenance of Kilcreene, County Kilkenny, Ireland until removed to Bonnettstown Hall, County Kilkenny, Ireland.

 

Condition

Generally this bookcase is in good condition. There are old marks and scratches overall consistent with age and use. Some spandrels and mouldings are loose and there are some losses. The plinth has been cut possibly for removal purposes rather than as an alteration. For further information on this Lot, please contact the English Furniture Department on 00 44 (0) 207 293-5470.
