Description

  • 95cm. high, 130cm. wide, 61cm. deep; 3ft. 1¼in, 4ft. 3¾in., 2ft.
with a moulded serpentine brèche d'Alep marble top above two doors inlaid with a wicker basket of flowers with birds and butterflies opening to reveal a shelf, the sides with ribbon-tied floral bouquets surmounted by birds with gilt-bronze foliate mounts, on cabriole legs terminating in scrolled feet

Condition

Colour far less yellow overall and much more attractive than in the catalogue illustration. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches to the marble top. The piece is rather faded and would benefit from a repolish according to taste. Very attractive detail to marquetry. There is some minor lifting of marquetry and showing evidence of previous restoration to the top and base of left side door and generally. The apron mount is possibly a later replacement and has a crack in the right hand side. The mounts are a little dirty and would benefit from a light clean. The sabots are slightly loose and just need re-pinning. An attractive piece in overall good conserved condition.
