Description

  • 29.5cm., 11½in.
modelled by J.J. Kaendler perched on a tall cherry-tree stump, eating a sugar lump from its left claw, the plumage in turquoise with wings and tail picked out in blue, yellow, iron-red and puce, the tree stump applied with black cherries, flowers and leaves (some restoration)

Kaendler's Arbeitsberichte refer to the parakeet on June 1741, Bl. 172 r  - 173  v:  Vor Ihro Excellenz die Frau Gräfin Von Moschinska einen Indianischen Vogel in Ziemlicher Größe in der Logis nach dem Leben in Thon poussiert, und solche gestalt vorgestellet wie er auf einem Kirsch Ast sietzet und ein Stücklein Zucker aus der Pfote frißt.
