Description
- each leaf: 232cm. high, 46cm. wide; 7ft. 7½ in., 1ft. 6in.
the front depicting Chinoiserie figures amongst pagodas and landscapes, the two end panels depicting Chinese pots and vases of flowers, the reverse decorated with dragons, prunus blossom, crysanthemums, birds on branches and rockwork, on bracket feet
Condition
Colours much more vibrant and ground slightly darker and less reddish and more attractive than in the catalogue illustration. Beautiful detail to the decoration. There has been some flaking and losses and retouching. There are also some minor hairline cracks which show evidence of previous restoration and which have been well executed. Attractive craquelure commensurate with age. The hinges are probably later replacements. One hinge is broken but can easily be fixed. There are a few scattered medium sized sections of lacquer missing as visible form the photograph, but these can easily be restored. There has been some fading to the lacquer on the front panels as visible from the photograph. An attractive lot in in need of some minor attention but once restored will look most attractive. Very reasonable estimate for a ten leaf screen.
