Description

  • 89cm. high, 132cm. wide, 63cm. deep; 2ft.11in., 4ft.4in., 2ft.¾in.
of serpentine form, with a later shaped veneered Sienna marble top, above two long drawers with gilt-bronze foliate and flower cast handles, the escutcheons cast with entwined laurel leaves, on cabriole legs terminating in paw feet, the whole inlaid with trellis parquetry

Condition

Colour less yellow and slightly darker overall and much more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Some very minor sections of the veneer missing and some old very minor restorations showing darker areas of colour, especially on the sides. Old minor restoration to the paw foot on left side. There are also some minor restorations to veneered marble top. The piece is rather dry looking and would benefit from a repolish according to taste. The piece has been strengthened internally beneath the top. There are some hairline cracks generally on the sides, which can easily be filled. Evidence of old minor worm which appears to be no longer active. The drawers have been relined. Evidence of previous mounts where areas of refilling behind the handles. In overall good restored condition. Impressive model.
