Description

  • 88cm. high, 136cm. wide, 72cm. deep; 2ft. 10½in., 4ft. 5½in., 2ft. 4¼in.
with a later inset moulded serpentine verde antico and red and white marble top, the frieze carved with a band of 'c'-scrolls on a trelliswork ground, above a pierced cartouche centred by the trophies of love on a trelliswork ground flanked by flowers and scrolls on boldly scrolled legs carved with stylised wings joined by an 'x'-form stretcher, the sides centred by a stylised scallopshell flanked by 'c'-scrolls enclosing bellflowers on scrolled feet; regilt; the left frieze later

Condition

Colour of gilding less greenish and marble top slightly stronger in colour and much more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Old minor marks, chips and scratches to the marble top and old minor restorations especially to the front right corner which has been well executed and is hardly noticeable. Old minor marks and chips to gilding as visible from photograph. Very attractive detail to carving. All bar one flattened bun foot is a later replacement. Unusual model in overall good original condition.
