Description

  • 109.5cm., 43in.
of the first size, each painted with pastoral scenes in the manner of Claude Lorrain, the foot, shoulders and cover with gilt foliage and pink flowers, set with gilt-metal handles, finial and base

replacement covers in pottery, minute flakes to gilding, each vase drilled with two holes (ca. 0.7cm.) into the upper rim, now filled

Catalogue Note

The vase was named after a bronze model, the 'Vase de la Vendange', designed by Baron Henry de Triqueti (1804-1874). The bronze example was first exhibited it in 1838 in the Paris Exhibition, where it was discovered by Alexandre Brongniart, director of Sèvres, who included it into the factory production.
