Description

  • sceptre and Pfennig marks in underglaze-blue, KPM and orb in brown

  • 69cm. high; 27¼in. excluding stand
of amphora form with gryphon handles (Französische form mit Greifenkopfhenkeln), each side painted with a circular panel, one side depicting the Wilhelmspalais in Berlin, the other Schloss Babelsberg near Potsdam, edged with gilt laurel wreaths and surmounted by a crown, the tall gilt neck and flared foot etched with a continuous band of foliage, on a square gilt base; together with a square ebonised wood base inscribed, Dono di S.M. L'Imperatore di Germania, Potsdam Li 4 Giugno 1822 (re-painting to blue ground, small repair to tip of one gryphon's ear)
