Provenance
The Smoking Room, latterly the Sitting Room at Easton Neston, Northamptonshire and appears in two inventories as follows:
Anon compiler. An Inventory of the mansion and contents, Easton Neston House, Towcester, January 1923. Typed document (Family Archive) in the Smoking Room.
Archibald Phillips, 16 Conduit Street, London, W1. Inventory and Valuation of the Household Furniture, ornamental effects, pictures and other items at Easton Neston House, Towcester, Northants, February 1927. Typed document. (Family Archive) in the Smoking Room.
Condition
Colour of gilding less green more golden and attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Very good quality casting to the gilt-bronze, which is slightly dirty and would benefit from a light clean according to taste. The gilding on one of the candlearms is quite rubbed, but this is not noticeable as this is within the reservoir. Some of the rings supporting the rods suspended from the corona have lost their gilding and also need tightening up. In overall good original condition. Very good provenance.
