Description

  • each 39cm. high, 37cm. wide, 28cm deep; 1ft.3in., 1ft.2in., 11in.
each with a canted tapering backplate surmounted by a flaming finial issuing three scrolled candlearms with petal shaped drip-pans and gilt-bronze nozzles terminating in a laurel leaf finial

Condition

Gilding much more golden and attractive than in the colour illustration. A flowerhead is off but present on the one illustrated on the bottom left of page 313, which also has some carving missing on the front, as visible from photograph. There are also some very minor missing elements from the flowerheads on the arms, but these are not too noticeable. Formerly drilled for electricity. There are also some minor elements and old restorations generally and minor losses to the carving. It is possible that the flaming finial and the acanthus leaf carved vase section is later on one. The flowerhead at the base of the central candlearm of the one illustrated on the top left of the photograph on page 313 is missing, but this can easily be restored. One gilt-bronze bobèche on the one illustrated in the right corner on page 313 is missing a drip-pan, as visible from photograph, but this can easily be replaced. The gilding has been touched up in places on the giltwood petals, especially below the candlenozzles. A good large set of impressive size. In overall good condition.
